A fairly static top twenty is balanced by a set of fourteen debuts, led off by newcomer Devan DuBois and including new tracks from big movers Jesse McCartney and The Wind And The Wave.
2014 charts
Jamie Scott makes a #7 debut with “Unbreakable” as Usher and Nicki Minaj join him in the top ten with “She Came To Give It To You.” Maroon 5 and Kimbra also score debuts within the top forty with new preorder singles from each of their upcoming albums. Additional debuts include Hunter Hayes, Sir Sly, a pair of songs from Bernhoft, and Echosmith.
The chart returns from hiatus with Sia’s “Chandelier” in the top spot and Mary Lambert and Maddie & Tae also being introduced within the top five. Holdovers from the last chart in February include A Great Big World’s “Already Home,” Sam Smith’s acoustic recording of “Latch,” and “Rather Be” by Clean Bandit featuring Jess Glynne.
A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera jump into the top five with “Say Something,” just above Sam Smith’s debut of “Latch (Acoustic)” at #5. Lady Gaga also moves into the top ten with “Gypsy.” Smith and A Great Big World each score additional debuts in the top thirty; other leading debuts come from Clean Bandit featuring Jess Glynne, the Arctic Monkeys, and Zedd featuring Matthew Koma and Miriam Bryant.
Little action this week in the upper echelon of the chart, but several big movers below. Lady Gaga’s “Gypsy” makes the biggest jump, up 41 to #27, followed by Elizabeth & The Catapult’s “Shoelaces” (up 29 to #46) and Stromae’s “Tous Les Mêmes” (up 24 to #22). Foster The People leads a set of fourteen debuts with “Coming Of Age” at #28; lower debuts include another track from Beyoncé’s self-titled album and two tracks apiece from Switchfoot and Katy Perry.
The top ten is mostly the same, with Christina Perri grabbing another week at #1 with “Human.” The new Neon Trees single “Sleeping With A Friend” enters at #29, taking the lead among nine debuts. Stromae’s “Tous Les Mêmes” is the greatest gainer, moving 23 positions to #46; Great Good Fine OK’s “You’re The One For Me” falls the furthest, down 56 to #100.
The chart returns for the first time since September and Christina Perri’s “Human” at the top. Tracks from Karmin, Peter Thomas featuring Betty Who, John Legend, and Céline Dion & Ne-Yo filling out the rest of the top five, with previous #1 “Further Away (Romance Police)” by Lissie at #11.
